What is Oaklanders Together? Why did they place measure NN on the ballot?

Oaklanders Together is a broad coalition of community leaders, doctors, public health experts, first responders and Oakland neighbors formed to develop a comprehensive strategy for public safety in Oakland. In Spring, 2024 the coalition gathered 37,800 signatures from Oakland voters to place Measure NN on the ballot. By collecting signatures the coalition was able to bypass the Oakland City Council and ensure that this critical measure would be directly included in the November 2024 Oakland ballot. The coalition's efforts aim to address the urgent need to improve 911 emergency response times, reduce crime, and tackle gun violence and human trafficking, making Oakland a safer place for everyone.
